Considerations and Accommodations for LGBTQ+ Patients
El Paso Behavioral Health recognizes that members of the LGBTQ community have unique healthcare needs, and is committed to providing excellent care for members of the LGBTQ community throughout the El Paso area.
We have worked hard to ensure that our policies and practices are welcoming and affirming for our LGBTQ patients:
- Individual rooms without roommates
- Placement of Transgender patients in gender-specific areas based upon their identity and preference
- An LGBTQ Navigator to assist patient to access specialty services in the community
- A Patient Advocate with training in LGBTQ Healthcare to assist in resolving concerns
- Clinicians trained in providing services to LGBTQ patients
In addition, we are always happy to hear our current or former patients’ suggestions regarding how we can better serve the LGBTQ community.
Recognition from Patients
At El Paso Behavioral Health System, we take patient satisfaction very seriously. Every patient at discharge is provided an opportunity to offer feedback regarding their stay at El Paso Behavioral Health System and the care they received. We take pride in our staff for their hard work and dedication to our patients, as reflected by our patient outcomes. Fuller has taken the additional step of ensuring the protection of our LGBT staff by creating an inclusive non-discrimination clause that includes sexual orientation and gender identity and seeks out LGBT publications for which to hire and train new candidates. This is an added step necessary to ensure that our staff reflects our patients’ similarities and understandings of community.
